Born in Provo ... parents are Colby and Robin Ward ... father pitched for BYU from 1983-86 ... father pitched for the Cleveland Indians (11th round draft, 1986) in the majors in 1990, posting a 1-3 record in 22 appearances with one save and a 4.25 ERA in 36 innings ... plays summer ball for Gator's Baseball ... recruited by TCU, Baylor, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Texas A & M and Louisiana Tech.
